Biografie Tamira was born on the 6 th of December 1990 in Dornbirn, a small town in Austria . Her mother Françoise is Austrian, born in Chile , and her father Ariff is Canadian, born in Tanzania ( East Africa ). Her mother was always taking Tamira along to the court, when she went to play tennis. So “Mimi” wanted to play tennis, too, and that's how she started at the age of four and a half in a group of five kids with her trainer Matey Pampulov in her home club TCD Dornbirn. At the age of seven she won her first province championship under 10. After that, she played some tournaments in Austria and at the age of 11 she won the under 12 Austrian Championship in singles and doubles. At that time she also played her first international tournaments under 12. At the age of twelve she won the under 14 Austrian Championship in singles and doubles, and in the same year she also was the winner of the under 16 Austrian Championship in singles and doubles. Tamira was the youngest player in the Austrian history to win U16. She started to play international U14 and won some titles, her best ranking in ETA U 14 was no. 2 at the end of 2003/2004. That was the time when she started to play ITF U18, where meanwhile she won a few cat. 2 tournaments. In 2005 she reached the finals at Wimbledon Grand Slam as youngest, unseeded player ever. Her best ranking ITF U18 is 20. She started beginning 2005 with her first ITF $ 10,000 women's tournament, where she reached semi finals, coming from the qualification. Her little brother Joel and her mother are at home, taking care of the two family dogs.
